13th Annual Northwest Design Awards Competition Winners Announced

Seattle Design Center celebrated the best of regional interior design with its 13th annual Northwest Design Awards Gala held March 8, 2012, at Seattle Design Center in Seattle.

March 9, 2012, 1:23 pm (OFPR) — Seattle, WA — March 10, 2012 -- Seattle Design Center celebrated the best of regional interior design with its 13th annual Northwest Design Awards Gala held March 8, 2012, at Seattle Design Center in Seattle.

Designers, architects and students competed with projects in 14 competition categories. A panel of West coast industry experts evaluated submissions through an anonymous process, measuring each project on the basis of proportion, composition, use of space, materials and appropriateness of the design solution.

This year's categories were: Bathroom; Commercial; Best Individual Room: Contemporary; Best Individual Room: Traditional; Exotic Retreats; Hospitality; Most Innovative Design Component; Kitchen; Small Design Firm Luminary; Modest Budget, Big Impact; Outdoor Living Space; Student; Whole House (less than $400,000); Whole House (more than $400,000).

"This is always an exciting evening because we get to see and celebrate such a broad range of great work," said Craig Cross, Seattle Design Center marketing manager. "We received more than 135 entries this year from designers throughout the Northwest region, and the broad range of styles and projects says much about the many design influences in the Northwest.

More than 275 members of the design community attended the Northwest Design Awards Gala, where the awards were announced. The winners include:
